Welcome to Year 1
The most exciting thing about Year 1 is how much progress we make with three very important life skills; being independent, reading and writing! Prepare to be wowed!
Much of Year 1’s learning is extended through play and being creative, allowing their imagination and excitement to lead their learning.
There are two classes that make up Year One. These are: 1EG and 1GH.
1EG: Your teacher is Miss Gardner who is supported by your super teaching assistant Mrs Fisher.
1GH: Your teacher is Miss Holmes, who is wonderfully supported by Mr Brough.
PE: Every Monday afternoon. Ensure a named kit is always in school.
Home Learning: Given out on Friday and to be handed in the following Wednesday. Choose the appropriate challenge if given a choice of 3 challenges. They increase in levels of difficulty with Challenge 3 being the most difficult.
We encourage parent-teacher partnerships by having an open door policy. You may contact us in three ways:
- Wait at the end of the day until the whole class have been dismissed.
- Phone the office to make an appointment.
- Leave a message in the morning with the member of staff on duty.

Miss Gardner – Peace at Last (Jill Murphy)
The hour is late and Mr Bear is tired. But he just can’t sleep – however hard he tries, all he can hear are the noises in the house. SNORE, SNORE goes Mrs Bear. TICK-TOCK, TICK-TOCK goes the clock. Will he ever be able to find peace at last?
We hope that you find the information that we have shared on our class page useful, but if you have any questions or would like to speak to a member of our team, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and a Year 1 teacher will be in touch!
